Why some modules are calibrated to -15 and others -18 is beyond me (and them resetting themselves), as is the metering in general.

the sound quality is incredible, and its certainly fantastic value for money (or in my case free for 6 months). VMR's certainly not without its flaws, the metering and some missing features from modules feel a bit poorly thought out. I also found myself going for some fairchild compression externally so that's something else that its not really offering yet. same goes for the VBC (and eventually in mono). I wasn't bothered before about VTM not being in the rack but its starting to feel absent with the workflow, so hopefully that get's added soon. the new plugins also make the rack concept far more viable in terms of staying within the VMR workframe. I reset a mix I was working on, and with only 2 instances of VMR I turned my small, boxy sounding room into a killer modern rock drum sound. the new "hybrid" plugins sound fantastic and the EQ choices are very musically thought out.

I've got to say that since installing tonight's update I feel like I've drunk a gallon of slate kool aid. hopefully the upcoming blueface version compares well, but honestly, I just love what the UAD one is doing a lot of the time. its fine on some sources when I want something quick. the 1176 is OK but I usually end up grabbing my UAD rev A (generally prefer the tone of rev A's but also for all buttons mode and having output metering included). since using it more, I like how aggressive you can be with the SSL EQ.

If you don't own any Slate Digital plugins, you can get the Custom Series EQ and LIFT and every other Slate Digital plugin in our annual bundle for $240 or monthly bundle for $19.99. If you already own a Slate Digital Plugin OR Trigger OR Relab's LX480 Reverb, you get the Custom Series and all other Slate Digital Plugins for an extended FREE Trial. I hope you love these two new guys, and stay tuned for more great stuff! These are awesome for mixbuss, and master buss, and are amazing for mastering. Remember they work extremely well with the more colorful FG-N and FG-S Really useful to cut with one instance to fix problems transparently and boost with another instance to add more flavor These are mostly inspired by clear, cohesive, mastering style filters so don't be afraid to push them, it's hard to make them ugly.

Some tips (watch the videos first please): Purchase information at Slate Digital ($149 intro price for both modules). There modules were a lot of fun to develop, and are wonderful to use.
